Warmth

Leaves leave

And my fingertips long for warm pockets

Skies grey

And still you stay an hour longer

You wonder,

Can it get colder?

And the sun shades itself behind the clouds

Let's stay

Under a fortress of blankets

Leave the leaves

For disorder on street curbs

Fall further into bed

And one foot closer

To layers and runny noses

For now

Let's just stay warm.
