She appeared in a dream
A week after my birthday
Her cheeks were flushed with color
And lips her signature shade
She didn’t say much
But her eyes told me everything I needed to know
As if for just an instant
Her touch left a tickle on my skin
And i thought back to warm kisses on sunny afternoons
You never knew it was like an inferno outside
You always kept it cold
I don’t know why I didn’t cry
When I saw her in her room that night
But just a thank you and goodbye
As I briefly laid by her side
And it felt like just enough to get me by..
